Chapter 3 of Fight Forever is all about how hard Sami and Kevin had to work to get their first singles match in 2003, and how the aftermath changed the trajectory of their career. Kevin’s often said that the IWS crowd breaking into a chant of “please don’t go” was the final straw that made it impossible for him to go back to Rougeau’s school. El Generico didn’t join in that chant… but he didn’t have to, he’d already said everything he needed to, there in the ring.
It’s absolutely wild to be re-reading these early chapters when I’m getting ready to write about the Bloodline’s Tribal Court segment (what a segment that was!) It’s so staggering how far they’ve come and what they’ve done.
