2006, In Which Kevin Claims He Doesn't Care

(And is fucking lying)

Chapter 6 of Fight Forever detailed how Kevin and Sami washed out of Ring of Honor the first time around in 2005. They were daunted by this setback, the first they’d ever really encountered, but responded by throwing themselves into getting even more experience. As a result, 2006 is a year chock-full of events. They go to Europe on a tour where they first meet both Becky Lynch and Pac (Kevin even has a three-way match with Becky, making him surely one of the few people in the world to wrestle both Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins, and nearly a decade before they became a couple). Kevin meets his future wife Karina on Myspace and falls head-over-heels in love, then goes on his second tour of Japan (getting there twice before Sami!) before ever having a chance to meet her.

While he’s in Japan Sami gets booked for a single ROH match, and Kevin (stuck in Japan) sulkily informs Karina via IM that he absolutely doesn’t care, whatever. The singles match eventually becomes more: an offer for the two of them to become a regular tag team on the Ring of Honor roster.

Their 2007 feud with the Briscoes kicked off their second run in ROH with a bang, but that’s a story for another chapter!

I’m happy to report that the copy-editing for the book is coming along well, and the internal illustrations are also shaping up beautifully (wait until you see the diagram explaining how to do an Assembly Line!)
